Utilization of a massive transfusion protocol during liver lobe resection: a case report.

چکیده
The literature shows substantial data that acute coagulopathy and hemorrhage without rigorous resuscitative efforts has a high morbidity and mortality. The utilization of protocols for a massive transfusion and resuscitation can lead to improved outcomes in morbidity and mortality. Protocols for massive transfusion allow for improved access to blood components and delivery systems, improved timing of administration, and a transfusion ratio of red blood cells to fresh frozen plasma and to platelets that has been shown to decrease the overall transfusion requirements. Research and evidence from the armed services has shown remarkable improvements in morbidity and mortality when a massive transfusion protocol is implemented in the care of traumatically injured soldiers. The use and continued review of these military data appear to have a substantial impact on how the civilian healthcare system addresses massive transfusion and resuscitation in the critically injured and hemorrhagic patient.

Alveolar Hydatid disease: a case report
Abstract Alvelolar hydatid disease is caused by E. multilocularis. Human infection occurs at the larval stage of this small tape worm (1.2 to 4.5 mm). In this article we studied alveolar hydatid disease in a 50 year old woman who presented with a hepatic mass. Liver biopsy and histopathologic evaluation showed alvelolar hydatidosis of the liver. Then resection of the left lobe of liver was don...

Aneurysms of gastric vessels (Dieulafoy`s disease, caliber-persistent artery) are thought to be of malformative rather than degenerative origin. They are usually single, located in the submucosa, usually on the lesser curvature, and characterized by a large tortuous vessel surmounted by a small defect...
متن کاملModified Liver Hanging Maneuver for En-bloc Right-sided Hepatectomy Combined with Total Caudate Lobectomy for Colon-Cancer Liver Metastasis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
BACKGROUND A right-sided hepatectomy with total caudate lobectomy is indicated for colorectal-cancer liver metastases (CLM) and hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) located in the caudate lobe with extension to the right lobe of the liver. Caudate-lobe resection (i.e. segmentectomy 1 according to the Brisbane terminology) is one of the most difficult types of hepatectomy to carry out radically and s...

In this report, we evaluate the indications of, and present our recent strategy for, cavernous hemangioma of the liver. Seven patients with cavernous hemangiomas of the liver, who underwent hepatic resection were enrolled in this study. The lesions were located in the right lobe in 3 patients, the left lobe in 2, and in both the right and left lobes in 2. The longest diameter of the lesions ran...
متن کاملHydatid cyst of liver presented as cutaneous abscesses : A case report
Secondary infection of the skin to hydatidosis of the liver is very rare. In this report a man is presented with two cutaneous abscesses in right lower part of his chest wall. Further examination disclosed a hydatid cyst 91,111 mm in diameter in the lower part of the right lobe of the liver connecting with the cutaneous abscesses. This case is reported because of its unusual form of presentation.
